I lost hope in a dark world,

Where envy is poison, such a cold gesture.

Angry looks, sharp words,

Hearts that get lost in wandering steps.

Kindness seems like a distant echo,

Suffocated by hate, so overwhelming.

In the fields of life, we plant resentment,

We reap abysses in place of love.

Cruelty, the shadow that insists on staying,

Undoing the light that tries to shine.

Hands that hurt, instead of supporting,

Lips that lie, instead of singing.

Envy is a mirror that distorts reality,

Making beauty so trivial.

Steals the smile, obscures reason,

It leaves scars on the chest and on the floor.

And so I ask myself: is there salvation?

In a world that tramples on compassion?

I lost hope, but I keep the desire

Of one day being reborn, in love, a flash.

Let a flame arise in the midst of chaos,

May the resentment burn, may the evil ones break.

For even in pain, life persists,

And perhaps in a smile, hope endures.

"Cruelty and hatred are the drops of poison that corrode the soul of humanity." - Ketty Williams
